Leek
Leeks originated in the Mediterranean region. They were already known to the Egyptians and introduced to Italy by the Romans, from where they spread to Central Europe. It is a common vegetable in the vegetable garden, but has faced some setbacks throughout Europe since the appearance of the leek harvester.
