Bean sprouts, soy shoots or tjapar, is the germinated mungboon or katjang idjo. This well-known sprout is often used in Asian wok dishes and spring rolls. The germs are nice and crunchy and rich in vitamin B, vitamin C and iron.

De Bolster has a handy germ dish in the range for growing Bean sprouts. Sprinkle a thin layer of seeds on the germination dish-grid. Rinse the seeds thoroughly with running water. Fill the germ bowl with water until just below the edge of the grid. Put the dish away in the dark and rinse the seeds once a day. After three days, place the germ dish in a light, warm place, but not in full sun. After about a week, the Bean sprouts can be harvested.
