Stachys officinalis - Organic perennial

Betony or feverfew (Betonica officinalis, synonym: Stachys officinalis) is a plant of the Lamiaceae family. The species is listed on the Dutch and Belgian Red List of plants as very rare and greatly reduced in numbers.

The plant grows 30-90 cm high and flowers from June to August with purple-red, sometimes white flowers. The flowers form a dense mockery. Most leaves are in a root rosette. The lower leaves have a long leaf stalk and the upper leaves have a short leaf stalk. The leaves have a net-like vein. The lacy stem is unbranched and has short hairs.

Betony grows on grassland slopes and at forest edges on not too dry, loamy and calcareous soil. The plant is also cultivated as an ornamental plant. (Source: wikipedia)

So it is very good to provide a place for this plant in your garden ;-) . Puur van't veld wants to bring back into our gardens the strong 'primeval' plants that originally grew here and thus bring them back into our nature. Save our indigenous nature and choose our organic indigenous 'primaeval' plants!
