Skimmia japonica 'Fragrant Cloud', also called skimmia 'fragrans', is a small, evergreen, male shrub with a compact, dome-shaped growth habit and glossy, leathery, lanceolate, dark green leaves. Already in October the flower clusters decorate this skimmia and finally in April, May it blooms with fragrant, green-white flowers. Skimmia japonica 'Fragrant Cloud' prefers a position in the semi-shade or shade and is not fussy about the type of soil, as long as it is well-drained and rich in humus. The plant is reasonably to well hardy, tolerant to sea wind and air pollution, has few problems with diseases or pests and requires little pruning.
