Pyrus communis conference. This hand pear flowers quite early and ripens at the end of September. The fruit is fairly large and slender green. The productivity is early, good and regular and long storable.

Pyrus communis 'Conference' , is an old pear variety from england, won in 1880 by rivers & son and named after a pomological conference in 1884 where it was presented for the first time. It is a tree with moderate vigour, suitable for many tree forms. The leaves are shiny, oval, medium green in summer. Pyrus communis 'Conference' blooms from mid-April to early May with decorative white blossoms, emerging from pinkish-red buds. This pear is self-pollinating but can also benefit from other pollinators such as: beurré hardy, bonne louise d'avranche, clapp's favourite, doyenné du comice or bon chrétien williams for extra fruit production. The fruits are long bottle-shaped with rust spots and green to greenish yellow when ripe, the yellowish white flesh is pleasantly sweet and juicy with a melon-like aroma. It is an excellent hand pear that can also be used for juice.
