Product description

Prunus avium "Bigarreau Napoleon", also known as the white flesh cherry or apricot cherry, is an ancient variety believed to originate from Germany. It is a medium-sized tree with strong branching and an upright, spherical growth habit. The leaves are ovoid to oblong and have sharp teeth. They are dark green in spring and summer and turn orange-red in autumn. Prunus avium "Bigarreau Napoleon" blooms mainly in the first half of April with fragrant white flowers. The tree is self-fertile and needs a good pollinator, such as Hedelfinger, Burlat or Early Rivers, to produce fruit. The cherries are heart-shaped, yellow with a red blush on the sunny side and have a juicy, sweet-sour flavour. This meat cherry is hardy, can tolerate some drought, is resistant to sea wind and air pollution, attracts bees and butterflies and has a beautiful autumn colour
