Product description

Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Red head' is a deciduous grass with a round, compact, clump forming habit. The leaves are linear, beautiful green, arching and arching, turning a golden brown in autumn. Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Red Head' flowers from July to September with nearly red/black flower spikes that turn grey-brown in autumn. It prefers a spot in full sun or half-shadow and a well-drained, moderately fertile soil that is not too heavy. This pennisetum is hardy and drought-tolerant, and tolerates sea wind and air pollution well. It is an attractive ornamental grass for the mixed border, the gravel garden, the prairie garden, or it can also be used as a tub plant and is suitable as a cut flower.

The Pennisetum alopecuroides Red head has a long bald growth habit and is slightly thicker than the other Pennisetum varieties. It has a lovely golden-yellow autumn colour. This species of Pennisetum alopecuroides has a striking inflorescence with very large dark oblong panicles.

The plant requires very little maintenance
