Onion Sweet of Florence, Simiane variety

This carmine red onion variety produces beautiful elongated bulbs with a deep red-purple color. Its flavor is sweet, mild, and aromatic, making it ideal for salads, raw dishes, and fresh preparations.

Harvested young while still small and green, it pairs perfectly with new potato salad, omelets, and summer dishes.

Sowing Carmine Red Onion

• Direct sow from March–April

• Row spacing: 25 cm

• Cover seeds lightly (about 1 cm)

• Thin after approximately 2.5 months to 8 cm

• Thin again a few weeks later to 10 cm

Young green shoots are edible and excellent in salads.

Care

• Light, loose, well-draining soil

• Sunny position

• Regular weeding early in the season

• Moderate watering at first, later only during prolonged drought
