Hydrangea paniculata 'Pinky Winky' is a wide, bushy, upright flowering hydrangea. This striking panicle hydrangea blooms from the end of July to September with fairly airy conical white to lime-coloured flower panicles that turn pinkish red in late summer. The leaves are narrow ovoid, dark green, serrated and greyish green underneath. This panicle hydrangea prefers a position in full sun or filtered sunlight. It also blooms on annual wood and can be pruned back firmly in early spring to maintain a bushy shape. It prefers slightly acidic, moist soil, is particularly hardy and attracts butterflies and bees. It is also decorative in autumn and can be planted along the coast, as it is tolerant to sea wind.
