Agrimonia eupatoria - Organic perennial

The common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) is a herbaceous plant of the rose family (Rosaceae). The species is listed on the Dutch Red List of plants as common and greatly reduced. This plant with its bright yellow flowers in long, slender spikes is quite common on calcareous verges and dykes in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Agrimony is a 40-100 cm tall, dark green plant with a hairy, little-branched flower stem, numerous scattered, divided leaves and long, slender spike-shaped inflorescences. The spikes are densely covered with yellow flowers. The flowers open first at the bottom of the spike and as the flowering season progresses, the higher flowers open as well. As soon as the flowers have finished flowering, the spikes lengthen so that the pseudo-fruits grow far apart.

The common agrimony is a hemicryptophyte, a perennial plant that overwinters with a bud above the ground, surrounded by a leaf rosette.
