Product description

Corylus avellana or the common hazel has been native to almost all of Europe since the end of the last ice age. This supplier of the delicious hazelnuts is a deciduous, often multi-stemmed shrub with tough, pliant twigs and round ovoid, toothed green leaves, which turn a beautiful golden-yellow in the autumn. The growth habit is quite upright and the hazel also dares to form root shoots. In early spring, the shrub flowers with yellow-green male catkins and small red female catkins. Late in the summer, the tasty hazelnuts follow. Corylus avellana is not fussy about the type of soil and can also thrive on the coast.
