Onion 'Red Baron' is a slightly flattened onion with a beautiful, red color and a spicy taste. This onion has a relatively high yield and is well preserved. In addition, 'Red Baron' is also suitable for foresting; a versatile onion. 

Seeding onions take a relatively long time to grow and mature well.

Sowing in the period March to mid-April at the latest. Sow at a driving distance 25 cm, thinning at 5-10 cm in the row. Sow depth: about 5 mm. Placing strong-smelling plants such as chamomile, bean weed and carrots in the immediate vicinity of the onions could have a disruptive effect on the onion fly. 

Onions grow best on relatively heavier, clay soils. This is certainly true of the 'Red Baron'. 

In the months of August - September the foliage will lie flat (i.e. 'ironing') and die. Pull the onions out of the ground with foliage and all and let the bulbs dry in an airy place, and not in full sun. The onions can be stored until spring, provided they are cool and dry.
