Product description

Tomato Saint Pierre

The Saint Pierre tomato is a robust and productive variety with large, red, firm fruits, aromatic flesh, and few seeds. Perfect for fresh salads, it is a mid-season tomato with indeterminate growth, ideal for gardens or greenhouses.

Growing Tips for Saint Pierre Tomatoes

  • Sowing: Sow seeds at a consistent temperature of 20–24°C from mid-February to late March/early April (6–8 weeks before transplanting). Maintain a warm, moist, and bright environment and lightly mist regularly.

  • Transplanting: After germination (2–4 leaves), transplant seedlings into pots at 15–20°C. Plant at 50 x 80 cm spacing in open ground after April 15 under glass or after the last frost outside. In northern regions, growing under glass is recommended.

  • Pruning: For indeterminate varieties, prune shoots at leaf axils to favor fruit quality over quantity. Determinate varieties do not need pruning; use mulch and support.

Care and Disease Prevention

  • Saint Pierre tomatoes need warmth and potassium-rich organic fertilization. Burying part of the stem promotes root development.

  • Light pruning in northern regions prevents leaves from touching the ground.

  • Watering: Regular watering without wetting foliage; tomatoes are sensitive to powdery mildew.

  • Preventive treatments: nettle tea, horsetail decoction, or seaweed powder (lithothamne) to strengthen plants.

  • Pur’Mel 3 fertilizer is highly effective; dilute 10% for prevention or 30% for mildew and spray foliage regularly.

Harvesting Saint Pierre Tomatoes

  • Mid-season variety, ready 2.5 months after planting.

  • Ripe tomatoes easily detach from the plant.
