The wild rowan tree or Sorbus aucuparia

Sorbus aucuparia is called rowan berry in Dutch. It is a medium-sized, deciduous tree with a bushy, upright form and a broad, pyramidal crown. The leaves are pinnate, sharply toothed, dark green on top and white-grey on the underside. Sorbus aucuparia flowers in May and June with creamy-white flower clusters. Common Rowan likes a position in full sun or semi-shade and does well in any well-drained, moderately fertile, humus-rich soil. The tree is well hardy and drought-tolerant.
