Growing Tips

Sowing

• Indoors in pots at 20°C, March – April (promotes fruit set, reduces pest damage)

• Transplant outdoors after the last frost (~May 15), 1 m spacing, up to 2 m for sprawling varieties

• Planting holes: small pits filled with compost

• Direct sowing in May is possible but results in later, smaller harvests

Harvest

• End of the season, when leaves wither and stem dries

• For long-term storage, harvest as late as possible, but before the first frost
