Product description

Perovskia "Little Spire", often referred to as Bluespirea, is a striking deciduous shrub with an upright growth habit and beautiful lavender-blue flowers that present themselves in slender clusters of tubular blossoms. This variety remains more compact and slightly lower than its counterpart "Blue Spire". The grey-green leaves are coarsely toothed and emit a lovely fragrance when bruised.

Blue spirea thrives best in a sunny environment with well-drained soil that is neutral to calcareous. It needs firm pruning every year in autumn, cutting back the branches to about 30 cm above the ground. During the winter months, a protective layer of leaves can help protect the plant.

This shrub is moderately to fairly hardy, resistant to disease and drought, tolerant of sea breezes, free of pests and can even tolerate some air pollution. During the peak summer season, some extra support may be needed to keep the plant sturdy.
