Product description

Queen of the Early Birds Tomato

The Queen of Early Birds is an old and highly productive early tomato variety, producing medium-sized, slightly flattened and ribbed red fruits with a thick skin and soft, mildly acidic flesh. Perfect for fresh salads or canning. This indeterminate tomato variety is ideal for gardeners seeking early harvest and high-quality fruit.

Organic Tomato Cultivation – Tips for Queen of Early Birds

Sowing: Sow seeds at a constant temperature of at least 20°C, ideally 24°C, from mid-February to late March (6–8 weeks before transplanting). Maintain a warm, bright, and humid environment, mist lightly.

Transplanting: After germination, transplant seedlings with 2–4 leaves into pots at 15–20°C. Later plant outdoors at 50 x 80 cm spacing after April 15 under glass or after the last frost. In northern regions, growing under glass is recommended, but sunny, well-ventilated outdoor sites also work.

Pruning: For indeterminate varieties, prune shoots in the leaf axils to encourage high-quality fruit. Determinate varieties do not require pruning; use mulch and guidance instead.

Care and Disease Prevention

  • Tomatoes require warmth and organic nutrients, especially potassium (K).

  • When planting, bury part of the stem to encourage root development.

  • In northern areas, lightly prune to prevent leaves from touching the soil.

  • Water regularly without wetting foliage to avoid powdery mildew.

  • Preventively use nettle extract, horsetail decoction, or seaweed powder (lithothamne) to strengthen plants.

  • Pur’Mel 3 fertilizer is effective due to nettle, comfrey, and horsetail: dilute 10% in water for prevention, 30% twice weekly for mildew.

Harvest

This early tomato variety is ready to harvest about 2 months after planting. Ripe tomatoes fall easily from the plant. Perfect for fresh salads, canning, and nutrient-rich meals full of vitamins and minerals.
