Prunus dom. 'Opal' - Plum tree - Organic fruit tree half-stemmed

Prunus domestica ‘Opal’ is an exceptionally early and highly reliable European plum tree, appreciated for its excellent flavour and consistent yields. Originally bred in Sweden, it is one of the earliest ripening plum varieties and produces delicious fruit as early as July.

The medium-sized plums have an attractive purple-red to deep red skin with a light bloom. The flesh is golden yellow, soft, very juicy and pleasantly sweet with a delicate aromatic flavour. ‘Opal’ is a true dessert plum, ideal for fresh eating, but also suitable for jams, compotes and baking.

This half-standard plum tree forms a well-shaped, semi-open crown and is perfectly suited to medium-sized gardens. The half-standard form creates a clear trunk with a branched crown above, making maintenance and harvesting easier. The tree fruits at a young age and is known for its regular and abundant crops.

‘Opal’ is self-fertile, meaning it will produce fruit without another plum tree nearby. However, planting a second variety may further improve yields.
