Prunus ‘The Bride’ (Multi-stemmed flowering cherry)

Prunus ‘The Bride’ is an elegant ornamental cherry, valued for its abundant white spring flowers and refined growth habit. Trained as a multi-stemmed tree, it develops a light, romantic silhouette suitable for both traditional and natural gardens.

Growth and habit

In multi-stemmed form, Prunus ‘The Bride’ forms several slender trunks with a broad vase-shaped to gently spreading crown. Growth is moderate and controlled. Mature height is usually 4 to 6 metres.

Flowering

In early spring, usually April, the tree is covered with masses of single, pure white flowers borne in clusters along the branches, creating a striking spring display.

Foliage and autumn colour

The foliage is narrow-oval and fresh green in summer, turning yellow to orange in autumn.

Position and soil

Prefers a sunny to lightly shaded position and a well-drained, fertile soil. Prolonged waterlogging should be avoided.

Garden use

Ideal as:

• a solitary feature tree

• a spring-flowering focal point

• a tree for smaller gardens

• part of a romantic or natural planting scheme

Maintenance

Low maintenance. Pruning is rarely required and best carried out after flowering, limited to removing dead or unwanted branches.
