This early-mid onion variety produces large, flat, broad bulbs with a copper-yellow color. Highly productive, it can be stored for several months in a dry, well-ventilated space. Green shoots are edible and delicious in salads.

Sowing Onions

• Direct sow in open ground from March–April

• Row spacing: 25 cm

• Cover seeds lightly (~1 cm)

• Thin seedlings: after ~2.5 months to 8 cm, later to 10 cm

Care

• Loose, well-draining soil

• Sunny location

• Regular weeding early in the season

• Moderate watering at first, later only during dry periods

Diseases and Prevention

• Susceptible to powdery mildew

• Apply well-rotted compost

• Preventive spraying with horsetail extract

• Avoid waterlogged soil

Harvest

• Harvest period: late July–September

• Bend stems in August to stop bulb growth

• Allow harvested onions to dry 48 hours on the ground in dry weather

• Store in a dry, ventilated place, optionally hanging
