The Charnue de Huy is an old heirloom tomato variety originating from Huy, Belgium. This traditional variety is known for its high productivity and excellent flavor.

The fruits are red, round, and smooth, with full, juicy, fleshy texture. It is a fairly early, indeterminate variety suitable for open-field and greenhouse cultivation.

Sowing and Transplanting

• Sow at minimum 20°C (ideally 24°C) from mid-February to late March/early April

• 6–8 weeks before transplanting

• Transplant seedlings at 2–4 leaves (15–20°C)

• Plant 50 x 80 cm apart

• After April 15 under glass or after last frost outdoors

Growing and Maintenance

• Bury most of the stem to promote strong root development

• Requires warmth and potassium-rich organic fertilizer

• Light pruning in northern regions

• Water regularly without wetting foliage

• Preventive treatment with nettle manure, horsetail decoction, or seaweed powder

• Remove side shoots for indeterminate varieties

Harvest

Harvest approximately 2 months after planting. Ripe fruits detach easily from the plant.
