First Early May Pea

The climbing pea "Early May" is a highly productive variety, suitable for all soil types. The peas are smooth, tender, and flavorful, perfect for fresh eating or storage.

Cultivation Tips

Sowing

  • Rows 50 cm apart, one seed every 2–3 cm, depth 2 cm

  • Direct sow in small hollows, March–late April (harvest June–July) or July (harvest October)

  • Cover with a tunnel if needed; foliage tolerates down to -10°C

Care

  • Prefers loose, moist, deep soil

  • Thin seedlings to 20 cm apart

  • Earthing-up at 15 cm height; support with trellis, mesh, or branches

  • Water regularly; mulching helps retain soil moisture

Harvest

  • 70–100 days after sowing

  • Pick when peas are fully formed
