Erica carnea ‘Winterfreude’ – Winter Heath with colourful winter flowers

Erica carnea ‘Winterfreude’ is a beautiful winter-flowering heather that brings colour to the garden at a time when few other plants are in bloom. This compact, evergreen heather forms a dense, low-growing cushion of fine, dark green needle-like foliage. From winter into early spring, numerous small, pink to rosy-red bell-shaped flowers appear, creating a striking splash of colour.

Because of its early flowering period, Erica carnea ‘Winterfreude’ is a valuable plant for the winter garden. Its flowers appear when there are few other flowering plants available and can provide an important food source for early-flying bees and other pollinators.
