Cherry Tomato Groseille petit Moineau

The wild tomato is a berry-type tomato producing numerous clusters of around ten small red fruits, each about 1 cm in diameter. The flesh is sweet and highly aromatic. This tomato is very disease-resistant, has indeterminate growth, and is suitable as a rootstock for other tomato varieties.

Growing Advice

Sowing and Transplanting

• Sow from mid-February to late March at 20–22°C

• Transplant seedlings with 2–4 leaves into pots at 15–20°C

• Plant 50 x 80 cm apart in open ground after April 15 or in a greenhouse

Maintenance and Disease Prevention

• Bury most of the stem when planting for strong root development

• Requires warmth and potassium-rich organic nutrients

• Water regularly without wetting foliage

• Preventive sprays: nettle tea, horsetail decoction, or powdered seaweed (lithotham)

• Pur’Mel 3 fertilizer effective for natural protection

• Indeterminate varieties: prune shoots from leaf axils

• Determinate or bushy varieties: no pruning, use mulch and support

Usage and Pruning

• Northern regions: light pruning so leaves don’t touch the ground

• Train on 2–3 stems

• In August, open ground: prune after the fourth flower cluster, leave one leaf

• In greenhouse: prune around August 15
