Product description

Tomato Joyau d’Idaho

The Joyau d’Idaho tomato is probably the earliest variety (30 days) producing small, irregular fruits 4–5 cm in diameter, resembling mini Marmandes. The plant is compact, very robust, and requires no pruning, making it perfect for challenging climates and container growing. It is a determinate variety, ideal for organic and reproducible cultivation.

Growing Tips for Organic Joyau d’Idaho Tomatoes

  • Sowing: Sow indoors from mid-February to late March/early April at 20–24°C. Maintain a warm, moist environment and water lightly.

  • Transplanting: When seedlings have 2–4 leaves, transplant into pots at 15–20°C. Plant at 50 x 80 cm spacing outdoors after April 15 under a greenhouse or after the last frost.

  • Pruning and guidance: For indeterminate tomatoes, prune axillary shoots to promote high-quality fruits. For determinate or bush varieties, use mulch and support.

  • Watering and disease prevention: Water regularly without wetting foliage, as tomatoes are sensitive to powdery mildew. Preventively spray with horsetail extract, nettle tea, or seaweed powder (lithothamnium) to strengthen plants.

Harvesting Joyau d’Idaho Tomatoes

  • Early varieties: about 2 months after planting.

  • Mid-season: 2.5 months after planting.

  • Late varieties: about 3 months after planting.

  • Ripe tomatoes easily detach from the plant.
